La partición de la lombrina is Lea Mugnaini’s solo exhibition at the Italian Cultural Institute in Mexico City, where she constructs a delicate ecosystem of forms that navigates the porous boundary between the organic and the symbolic. Unfolding across the cloister, library, and main hall, the exhibition creates a spatial choreography that invites slow observation and sensorial drift. Through plasticine models, bronze, oxidized silver and gold leaf, and materials found on site, Mugnaini assembles a constellation of hybrid entities suspended between species, timelines, and states of being. Drawing from biomorphism, science fiction, and ancestral mythologies, her practice approaches sculpture as a fluid process of transformation, embracing multiplicity, irony, and intuitive association, and offering a garden of entanglements where material memory and speculative fiction coexist in quiet tension.
