Of Sleep and Dreams, Especie del Sonno, 2023, Berlin

Of Sleep and Dreams – Le specie del sonno is a site-specific installation developed during a three-month residency, where Lea Mugnaini brings sculpture and drawing into a suspended, oneiric landscape. Inspired by Le specie del sonno, the exhibition transforms the space into a vessel for forms in transition, as shapes shift between two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional objects. Cut-outs emerge from the page and solidify into bronze or stainless steel, composing a choreography of light, shadow, and touch. In dialogue with the ideas of Henri Focillon, Mugnaini constructs a fluid visual lexicon where drawing anticipates and sculpture crystallizes the imaginary, forming a fragile ecology of forms shaped by memory, intuition, and dreamlike time.
